DRAWING EXPLORATIONS

Learn to draw realistically using a variety of drawing mediums. You will be taught classical methods, learning artistic techniques that will develop your success at drawing. This class will explore graphite, charcoal, and conte to produce frameable artwork, all created by you! Intended for beginners but all are welcome!

WATERCOLOR PAINTING

Let us help take the mystery out of watercolor painting! Learn to paint using traditional watercolor techniques of wet into wet, graded wash, and dry brush; all while learning color theory and composition. In this class you will produce loose simple paintings, small intimate detailed paintings, and develop larger more process oriented pieces. Intended for beginners but all are welcome!

Pottery Date Night

"So can my wife and I come and reenact the scene from GHOST?" Well...its not as easy or as sexy as that, but it can be FUN! Join us for a tandem wheel experience, a-la the movie Ghost. We will handle the trimming and bisque firing of your wheel thrown piece. You will have the opportunity to come back during Open Studio to glaze (paint) your creation, included in the price of the class.

Pottery Painting

Come choose from our selection of unique bisqueware and have fun glazing it. You choose the colors and design. Examples will be available to help ignite your imagination and a Clay Studio Attendant to help with questions. All levels and ages are welcome!

Beginning Wheel Throwing

Learn to throw cups, bowls, and vases in this introductory class for beginners. Basic low-fire glazing techniques will be taught to produce beautifully finished pottery pieces.

  • Semester (September - December ): $540
  • First-time students are required to purchase a clay tool kit for $20
  • All students are required to purchase a bag of clay for $35 OR half bag of clay for $20
  • You can purchase clay and tools from the instructor via Venmo
  • Please note that wheel throwing is a physically demanding art form. If you have any physical limitations give us a call and we can help you decide if another class may be a better fit for you
  • Beginning wheel students may rent a locker at a discounted rate of $50/month

Intermediate Wheel Throwing

Those who have achieved throwing competency are welcome in this class. Students will learn more advanced throwing techniques such as throwing lidded vessels, altering wheel thrown pieces, constructing multi-part pieces such as tea pots, and more. More complex and mid-range firing will be available!

This class will explore the many facets of clay from forming and firing to surface decoration and glazing. Learn some handbuilding techniques and dabble with wheel throwing. Venture Clay Punch Card

Try learning about clay on your own schedule! Purchase a four or eight punch card and choose from any of our clay classes to attend. You may join in with the lesson of the day or be lightly instructed to gain clay handling or throwing skills! Each "punch" equals one hour of class or studio time.
