SUMMER WORKSHOPS:

 

Mosaic Art

 

Create a one of a kind mosaic art piece with a mixture of found objects and handcrafted clay tiles. Perfect for beginners or those just wanting to explore a fun, new creative medium! 

This two-day workshop will be taught by artist Karen Kingsbury.

Students will complete a  trivet or small wall hanging.

JULY 13th  10am-4pm  & JULY 20th 10am-1pm

$125 + $25 Materials fee, paid to instructor on day of class.

Nuno Felted Scarf

Nuno felting taught by fiber  artist Mary Jane Kiskenen.

Learn how to create a very textured and unique surface by felting merino wool onto silk  fabric. Students will leave with a finished scarf.

Oil Painting: Pet Portraits

Learn how to create a  portrait of your favorite animal friend with portrait and pet artist Sarah Cooper. Students will work in oil to create a likeness of their furry friend.

Surface Design

Create your own pattern to have    printed onto wrapping paper and fabric with surface designer and illustrator Katie Carone.

Students will create a design and will receive gift wrap and fabric. Students will receive final

products 1-2 weeks after  workshop.

SPRING CLAY/ POTTERY CLASSES

 
 

BEGINNING WHEEL THROWING-                         Saturday Morning Session

 

You’ve seen it in the movies, now learn how to do it yourself! In this introductory class, learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more. Wedging, centering, pulling, lifting and trimming are demonstrated, and basic surface decoration techniques are also explored. This class is designed for students with little or no experience on the potter’s wheel

Adult level clay class with an introduction to wheel throwing, trimming and glazing. This class is intended for beginners, or those just wanting a refresher course. Complimentary use of open studio and bisque firings included.

Students in this class must be at least 16 years old.

Saturdays 10am-12n

$225 For six class sessions. Class sessions must be used within 60 days. ***Pottery classes are open entry/open exit meaning students can join at any time***
$40 materials fee (25lbs of clay and tool kit) *students who already have tool kit only pay $20 materials fee

INTERMEDIATE  WHEEL THROWING-       

Take your pottery skills to the next level!
Improve your technique and develop your style. In this class, you’ll make larger, lighter, well-balanced pieces as you explore the complex relationship between form and function, as well as the importance of trimming and finishing. Glaze application and alternative finishes will also be covered in more depth. Complimentary use of open studio and bisque firings included.

Prerequisite: Must have taken Beginning Pottery at the Chartreuse Muse Clay Studio or feel comfortable throwing a cylinder with even walls.

Students in this class must be at least 18 years old.
