These classes are family friendly!

Play with Clay

Saturdays 1-2pm (Starting October 16th) 2-3pm (Starting October 23rd)

$25/person.

Have fun and get muddy while creating a unique ceramic project. Learn a clay hand-building technique and then use that method to make whatever your imagination desires. At the beginning of each hour (1:00, 2:00) there will be a demonstration of a specific method of working with clay (pinch, coil, slab), then students will use this technique to build their own piece for the rest of the hour. All participants will have access to the Open Studio hours (Saturdays 12:00-4:00) to come back and glaze their fired ceramic piece ($10). Glazed and fired pieces will be food safe and waterproof. All children (under 16) must be accompanied by a paying adult. Great for families and groups! Drop-ins welcome but pre-registration encouraged to save your spot.

Take a Spin

Saturdays 12:30-1:30 and 1:30-2:30. (Starting October 23rd)

$35/person. 

Have you always wanted to try throwing on the wheel? Well, here is your chance! This new mini workshop is designed for beginners just like you who want to “Take A Spin” on the pottery wheel. Each student gets their own wheel with pre-centered clay, so all you need to do is create your vessel. All participants will have access to the Open Studio hours (Saturdays 12:00-4:00) to come back and glaze their fired ceramic piece ($10). Glazed and fired pieces will be food safe and waterproof. Minimum age for the pottery wheel is 12. All children (12-16 years of age) must be accompanied by a paying adult. This class is perfect for friends, couples, or small groups.

You’ve seen it in the movies, now learn how to do it yourself! In this introductory class, learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more. Wedging, centering, pulling, lifting and trimming are demonstrated, and basic surface decoration techniques are also explored.
This class is designed for students with little or no experience on the potter’s wheel, though those with some experience are welcome in this class as well to learn new and slightly advanced techniques to continue to grow their skill!
Complimentary use of open studio and bisque firings included.

Hand-Building with Clay

Tuesdays 1-3pm.

$150/month. Students will need to purchase clay and tool kit (available at the Muse).

Discover the flexible qualities of building clay objects by hand! Students will learn the three basic techniques ceramic artists use to create beautiful functional and sculptural objects: coil, pinch, and slab. This class will also cover several glazing techniques and materials. All firings included.

Painting Explorations

Wednesdays 10-12noon.

$40/2-Hour Class or $150/month

Tap into your personal creativity by exploring a variety of painting materials and techniques that will expand your knowledge and expectations of art. Bring your friends or meet new ones in this fun, no-stress art class. Students will discover how to add stamping, paper, fiber, and other mediums to their paintings while enjoying the social atmosphere. Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. No experience necessary. All materials provided.

Senior Arts and Crafts

Tuesdays 10-12noon.

$40/2-Hour Class or $150/Month

These classes are designed for seniors who want to get together with friends or meet new ones in a fun, relaxing and creative safe atmosphere. Our wonderful teachers will walk students through the easy step-by-step directions while the class can enjoy refreshments, coffee, and tea (provided) and create something to be proud of. All students will create a one-of-a-kind finished art piece each week. Art materials provided. Beginners are welcome. No experience necessary. Taught by Sandra Veneman.

Adult Monthly Workshops

Bookmaking

2nd Thursdays 6:30-8:30 (10/14, 11/11, 12/9)

$45/2 Hour Workshop. $125/All 3 Workshops.

This class will introduce beginner book binding methods. Each month students will learn one or two bookbinding techniques. These will include single sheet books, accordion books, pamphlet stitching, a combined concertina, and Japanese stab binding. Students will create unique, hand bound books to take home. These unique handmade books would be perfect for journals, sketchbooks, as well as lovely gifts! Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. No experience necessary. All materials provided.

Cultural Creations

3rd Wednesdays 7:00-8:30. (10/20, 11/17, 12/15).

$40/1.5-Hour Workshop. $110/All 3 Workshops.

Travel the world one craft at a time! In this class students will create crafts from around the globe, while learning about various cultures and the traditional crafts from those regions. Students will discover the meanings and purposes of the crafts and gain skills in a variety of materials and techniques while making their own unique treasures. The class will explore the rich artistic traditions of Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the United States and Canada. Students will create one craft from a different culture each month. Great for teachers who want to bring these rich artistic traditions into their classroom! All levels welcome. No experience necessary.

2nd Saturday Workshops

October: Watercolor Botanical Painting

Saturday, Oct. 9 10:00-12noon. $45/2-Hour Workshop.

In this workshop students will be inspired by the beauty of nature to create colorful miniature watercolor paintings. The class will explore basic watercolor techniques such as wash, wet-on-wet and drybrush while working from observation of plant life. Great for all levels, from those who are new to watercolors to skilled artists. No experience necessary. All materials provided. Taught by Ellyn Brown               

November: Relief Printmaking

Saturday, Nov. 13 10:00-12noon. $45/2-Hour Workshop.

This class will introduce relief printmaking through carving imagery into small printmaking blocks and utilizing hand pressing processes. Once the printing block is created, students may use these to create multiple inked prints for a variety of purposes, such as cards, scarves, and unique framed gifts. Great for all levels. No experience necessary. All materials provided. Taught by Tiffany Pech.               

December: Clay Gift Box

Saturday, Dec. 11 10:00-12noon. $45/2-Hour Workshop.

Students will learn clay hand-building techniques (slab, coil, and pinch) to create a beautiful little clay box. A perfect keepsake or gift! All boxes will be glazed and fired. Great for all levels. No experience necessary. All materials and firings provided. Taught by Madison Ewing.

2nd Saturday Girls Night

Saturdays 6-8pm. $40/Per Person

Get your girlfriends together and meet new ladies in our Girl’s Night Out Workshops. Learn a new art skill while chatting it up in a fun and friendly environment. These workshops take place in our beautiful gallery so students may browse the artwork by local artists and artisans while sipping wine and snacking on appetizers. Workshops taught by local artist, Darla Galloway, an expert in a variety of art styles and materials. Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. No experience necessary.

3rd Saturday Singles Night

Saturdays 6-8pm. $40/Per Person

Are you tired of the same old scene or trying to meet people online? Then join our Single’s Night Art Workshop for a fresh perspective. These workshops take place in our lovely gallery space, so participants can mingle while looking at artwork created by local artists and artisans. Each participant will learn a new art skill while meeting other singles. Wine and appetizers will be served.  Workshops taught by local artist, Darla Galloway, an expert in a variety of art styles and materials. Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. Make Your Own Group!

Can’t find what you are looking for? Get your group of at least 5 participants together and create your own night out! We will work with you to design a workshop that fits the needs of your specific group. Choose from one of our night out projects or choose from clay, painting, bookmaking, mixed-media, drawing, printmaking, and more! Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. No experience necessary.
