These classes are family friendly!

Play with Clay

Saturdays 12:30-1:30 and 2-3pm   $25/person.

Have fun while learning a clay hand-building technique and creating a unique artwork. Great for friends and families!

Return a few weeks later once your piece is fired to glaze ($10).

Please arrive 5 minutes early to sign in. Please note that children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Play with Clay and Take a Spin students should enter through the gallery. Except for our after hour Take a Spin classes that should enter through the clay studio door at the back of our building.

Take a Spin

Have you always wanted to try throwing on the wheel? Well, here is your chance! This new mini workshop is designed for beginners just like you who want to “Take A Spin” on the pottery wheel. Ages 12 and up. Looking for more formal instruction? Check out our weekly Beginning Wheel Throwing classes listed below. You can credit your “Take a Spin” payment toward your class!

Muse Makers

1st Fridays and Saturdays 6-8pm

Join us for an evening of making, snacks and conversation! Each of our “Muse Makers” projects are designed to do three things. One, be easy to follow so beginners feel at ease! Two, leave room for your unique creative spirit to shine through. Three, produce a beautiful artwork that you will cherish for years to come!

Grab a friend and come get creative at the Muse!

Light refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own beverage to enjoy!

Friday June 3rd 6-8pm

Mixed Media Floral

Muse Makers will be led step by step through the process of creating this abstract mixed media artwork. Choose your own color scheme and let loose as you use watercolors, oil pastels and ink pens to create a whimsical floral work of art.

Saturday June 4th 6-8pm

Printed Tote

Have you heard of printmaking? Printmaking can be thought of as creating your very own stamp! In this class Muse Makers will be led step by step through the process of creating a linocut “stamp.”  Choose your own design or follow along with the instructor. Students will then use fabric inks to print a pattern onto canvas tote bags. An artsy addition to your grocery bags, a farmer’s market bag or even your summer pool bag!

Friends' Pottery Night

2nd Fridays and Saturdays 6-7:30pm

Take a spin on the potters wheel in a fun and friendly environment. Bring your friends or make new ones as you enjoy refreshments and are introduced to the skill of wheel throwing.

Pottery Date Night

4th Fridays and Saturdays 6-7:30pm

$50/per coupleJoin us for a tandem wheel experience a-la the movie “Ghost.” Couples will be instructed on the basics of wheel throwing and then will take a spin on the wheel together. A unique and fun date idea for any couple! If a successful piece is thrown by the end of the session students may return during open studio hours (12-4pm Saturdays) to glaze their piece together ($10).

Weekly Classes

Painting Explorations

$150/per month

Tuesdays 6-8pm (Starting in July)

Tap into your personal creativity by exploring a variety of painting materials and techniques that will expand your knowledge and expectations of art. Bring your friends or meet new ones in this fun, no-stress art class. Students will discover how to add stamping, paper, fiber, and other mediums to their paintings while enjoying the social atmosphere. Great for all levels, from beginners to skilled artists. No experience necessary. This class is one month long, but is designed to be repeated month after month so you may grow your artistic skills! All materials provided.

Beginning Wheel Throwing (Adult)

$175/monthly payments OR $473/semester (save 10%)

You’ve seen it in the movies, now learn how to do it yourself! In this introductory class, learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more. Wedging, centering, pulling, lifting and trimming are demonstrated, and basic surface decoration techniques are also explored.

This class is designed for students with little or no experience on the potter’s wheel, though those with some experience are welcome in this class as well to learn new and slightly advanced techniques to continue to grow their skill!

Four hours of complimentary open studio use is included in the price of the class so that students may practice their throwing skills on their own time. Open studio is on Saturdays from 12-4pm.

Note: First time students are required to purchase a clay tool kit for $20. All students are required to purchase a bag of clay for $35. (These supplies must be purchased from The Chartreuse Muse). 

Beginning wheel students may rent a locker at a discounted rate of $50/month.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing (Adult)

$175/monthly payments OR $473/semester (save 10%)

This class is designed for students who have taken Beginning Wheel Throwing for at least a full year and have advanced past the instruction of that class. 

Intermediate students will have access to a locker in the clay studio.

Four hours of complimentary open studio use is included in the price of the class so that students may practice their throwing skills on their own time. Open studio is on Saturdays from 12-4pm.

Note: First time students are required to purchase a clay tool kit for $20. All students are required to purchase a bag of clay for $35. (These supplies must be purchased from The Chartreuse Muse). Teachers may recommend additional supplies to the students on the first day of class.
